Compared to 18-8 bundles and solid, 18-8 turning returns lesser value to steel mills since it has lesser moisture content than 18-8 bundles. It must be free of non-ferrous metals, non metallics, excessive iron, oil and other contaminants.
Stainless steel turnings are commonly used to produce several steel products such as cookware and cutlery.
